Most growing businesses reach a point where the marketing decisions have outgrown the person making them, but the budget has not yet reached a full-time CMO salary. The fractional model exists for that gap.

WHAT THE ROLE ACTUALLY COVERS

A fractional CMO is not a consultant who writes a strategy and leaves, and not a freelancer who executes. They hold the
marketing function.

Positioning and the commercial argument. What you sell, to whom, and why they should pay more for it than the alternative.

Marketing plan and budget allocation. Where the money goes and what it is expected to return.

Team and supplier management. Running the internal team, and holding agencies and freelancers to account, which is usually where the leakage is.

Measurement. Deciding what counts as working, and reporting it honestly to the board.

Escalation capacity. Being the person in the room when marketing has to defend itself commercially.

Typically two to six days a month, with a defined term and a handover plan.

WHEN YOU ARE READY

  • Revenue supports marketing investment but not a senior salary plus its overhead

  • You have a marketing executive or two doing good work with nobody senior to steer them

  • You are about to launch, reposition, enter a market or raise

  • The founder is still making the marketing calls and has stopped enjoying it

  • You have agencies but nobody client-side capable of directing them

WHEN YOU ARE NOT

If the real need is execution, hire a doer. A fractional CMO with no team to direct becomes an expensive designer, and both sides end up frustrated.

If the business has fewer than three marketing decisions a month, you need advice, not a function.

WHY OURS COMES WITH A STUDIO ATTACHED

The usual weakness of the fractional model is the gap between decision and delivery. The strategy is sound and then it waits three weeks for creative.

Because the studio sits behind the role, the plan and the execution are the same conversation. And because that studio has held brands for twenty-five years across real estate, healthcare, manufacturing and the arts, the advice comes from having built the

thing, not only from having advised on it.

Not sure whether the gap in your business is strategy or capacity? One conversation usually settles it.
